A Ford That Gets 95MPGe!

Look out Prius... here comes the CMax! Ford is gunning (even if only passively) for Toyota to compete with the Prius and beat it at its own game.

The new CMax has a tentative range of 550 miles on its tank giving it an estimated 95MPGe and making it the most fuel efficient car on the market!

The Examiner writes:

Ford Motors today released partial specifications for the eagerly awaited C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid. The C-MAX Energi is the plug-in twin to the C-MAX Hybrid, both of which together are Ford's first dedicated hybrid vehicle line in the U.S., and are due to start deliveries at the end of 2012. The Energi is expected to be rated by the EPA with a massive 550 mile total driving range, a 20 mile electric-only range, and a fuel economy equivalent to 95 miles/gallon (MPGe). All these specs exceed the Toyota Prius Plug-in.

The two vehicles are part of Ford's strategy called The Power of Choice, in which customers are able to choose among a wider range of drive train options than in previous years. Previously automobile customers only choice was between one kind of gasoline or diesel engine or another. With the Power of Choice, Ford's customers can theoretically choose between regular gasoline, EcoBoost (turbo-charged gasoline), hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric vehicles. The C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi give a choice between regular hybrid and plug-in hybrid drive trains. Some other of Ford's 2013 vehicles offer a wide range of drive trains, with the 2013 Ford Fusion due to be sold in EcoBoost, Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid versions.
